Micah 2 I will preach to you of wine and strong drink

Read Micah 2

It comes from verse 11, If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!

The desire for chemical euphoria is certainly not a new thing. Drug use is rampant the world over, ranging from simple alcohols to exotic hallucinogens. Some by prescription, some under the guise of prescriptions. Currently there is a national push for general legalization of marijuana. I will not argue any validity in it's medicinal use, there are certainly examples where it is helpful. My objection is the general legalization of it's use. And the caviler attitude in getting the prescription. I watched a documentary recently where reporters went under cover to several California clinics for the sole purpose of getting marijuana. They told the receptionist that they just wanted to get high and the receptionist told them exactly what to tell the doctor to get the script.

Our government believes the tax revenue it will generate make this a good idea. We should have learned a lesson from tobacco use and the health problems that has caused.

But alas I believe that in the near future, unless God wakes up His people, the laws will change. Just as this scripture says the preacher that brings strong drink and wine, the leader that promises drugs to make people feel better will be the one followed.
