February 17, 1 Samuel 6:1-5
Still in the same verses of 1 Samuel as yesterday. I want to look at something that's not specifically written. The ark of the covenant travels through five cities and perhaps more. We know that the people suffered certain afflictions but was it all of them? Maybe there were some that realized this ark represented the one true God and converted. God says that His word will not return void. So maybe God sent the ark to the pagans as a witness, just as He sends us to be witnesses. Remember what was in the ark, the law that God gave Israel. Maybe someone in one of those pagan cities looked in the ark and read the 10 commandments. Unfortunately we only know a small part of each story. I'm thinking of this because a dear friend went home this week. He touched thousands in his life serving Christ all because someone touched his life in grade school. We all plant seeds daily and we won't know until we get home what seeds grew. Some may receive and some may not. Maybe by letting the Philistines have the ark for a short time God planted some seeds that grew.
