April 18, 1 Samuel 27

April 18, 1 Samuel 27

This chapter is another historical account of David's actions.  There is nothing to indicate that what he did was condoned or blessed by God.  I think he is wise to leave Israel until Saul dies, it takes away that tension but I wonder about the choice to go to Gath and why king Achish would accept him.  David had a reputation, perhaps as the story unfolds Achish believed that David no longer held loyalty to Israel and having so great a commander would be of benefit. But David was also ruthless and deceitful.  When he raided cities he killed everyone, the young and the old so that no-one could testify of what happened. By todays standard that would be war crimes. There were times in Israel's  history when God told them to utterly destroy a people but we have no indication here if God said to do so or not.

Today's workout, cardio 30 intervals.  High knees, grapevine, squat, jump rope, windmill.
