April 23, 1 Samuel 30:1-6
Here are some of the consequences for David's actions. For the last 16 months he's been living with Israel's enemies and deceiving the king. Just days ago he was deceiving the king as the Philistines prepared for battle. In doing so he left his home unprotected and other enemies came in. Lots of analogies can be made here, when we're off doing things that we shouldn't our homes are left vulnerable.
David also learns a lesson in leadership, when something goes wrong, no matter who is at fault, whoever is in charge will be blamed. To his credit he does turn to God first before taking action.
