April 9, 1 Samuel 23:11-29

April 9, 1 Samuel 23:11-29

Backing up a bit in this chapter to look at different possibilities. God tells David that Saul will come down and the local people will give him away. But as David leaves, Saul never comes down so we have an example of how there are different possibilities and our choices make a difference. God is sovereign in ALL things yet we can choose, I have no idea how these opposites can be true but accept that they are. The rest of the chapter is a good example of how people are motivated by personal gain and feelings. As Saul is the seated king and has a certain power, the Ziphites were willing to give up David for that influence. Also note that Saul wants them to do his work. The base nature of humanity is clearly portrayed in the biblical history.
