May 8, II Samuel 5:1-16

May 8, II Samuel 5:1-16

David is declared king and accepted by all of the tribes of Israel.  It is fitting that the first thing he does is reclaim Jerusalem.  We don't know when it was taken by the Jebusites, probably after Saul's death.  The insult about the blind and lame can be a bit confusing and there have been several different interpretations.  I like this one the best, the city of Jerusalem was believed to be so fortified that the Jebusites mocked they could hold it with blind and lame soldiers. In spite of these claims David takes back Jerusalem.  And we see again David's weakness for the ladies, he takes even more wives.  I still contend it's not a good idea to have more than one.

Today's workout, legs.  5 sets each 8-15 reps
