June 20, Joel 2:28-32
This prophecy is quoted by Peter in Acts 2:17 and he refers to the Holy Spirit filling the people on Pentecost. In all of the translations I looked at, verse 28 says 'afterward', but after what? After the people repent? After the messiah comes? After the Holy Spirit comes? Maybe all three. I think the last two verses are indeed about Messiah final coming but the first three could be any time of revival or move of God. Certainly we saw this on Pentecost but we also so it in 1720's, 1850's and early 1900's to name a few. What would it take today for God to pour out His spirit? I think it's still the same as it was here, for the people of God to turn back to Him with their whole being.
