June 29, I Kings 2:1-9
David is dieing and giving last advice to his son, I contrast this section to a writing by Paul to Timothy.
David begins great, be strong, walk upright before God and keep His commandments but then he changes things, he singles out certain people for revenge. Strange that David, a man who received God's grace and mercy so many times in his life sought revenge at the end. He could have simply left things as the first section, do all to walk with God. In Paul's advice to Timothy he singles out someone who cheated him but not for revenge, simply to be cautious of the man. I wish we knew more about Timothy and how he fared afterward, we know how Solomon began with God but then strayed so far away, maybe some different advise would have been better.
