July 10, I Kings 7:1-11
Solomon built for himself at least two houses and one for his wife, Pharaoh's daughter. His first house took 13 years to build, nearly twice as long as the temple but we don't know how many people were involved. It was considerably bigger than the temple though. The second house, the Forest Of Lebanon, was built with materials from that forest, primarily cedars. He furnished and adored the houses with costly items. This was a time of great prosperity for Israel and so Solomon indulged himself. The third house he built for the daughter of Pharaoh, whom he never should have married according to the Torah.
