July 17, I Kings 9:12-28
Finishing off this chapter the main topic seems to be how Solomon built Israel. He began right by building for God first, finishing His temple before building his own house. And as he continued to build up Israel he maintained his piety to God. Two items of discord though that I see are the cities Solomon gave to Hiram, they did not please him but we're not told why. And the building of a house for Pharaoh's daughter with special terraces. Knowing a little already of what will happen through Pharaoh's daughter I wonder if this was a step towards her bringing in idols. The issue with Hiram though speaks of either greed or envy, what Solomon gave wasn't good enough for some reason that we're not told of. These emotions, greed and envy are base in all of us and a main cause for troubles.
