July 26, I Kings 13:1-10

July 26, I Kings 13:1-10

History shows a lot of self centered political leaders with the same flaws, they try to be everything and think they know what's best for the people.  Jeroboam not only made idols and false gods, he made temples, he attributed the works of God to the idols and set himself up as priest. One may wonder why God didn't kill him outright.  This un-named prophet does however prophecy a coming king by name, Josiah.  Josiah comes about 340 years after this prophecy and fulfills what is told here.  (We'll look at this in 2Kings 23).  Of more significance is what Jeroboam says to the prophet after God lamed his hand.  Speak to YOUR God that my hand may be restored.  The Lord was not Jeroboam's God.  Who is your God?
