July 29, I Kings 14:17-31

July 29, I Kings 14:17-31

We see the death of Jeroboam and his son and we'll see more about him in Chronicles.  Now we look at the kingdom of Judah.  Solomon's son Rehoboam is king and he too is a bad king.
Solomon reigned 40 years, in those years Israel went from a moderate force to the dominating force in that region.  Neighboring kings brought tribute to Solomon but somewhere along the way he and the people turned to idols and the nation suffered.  Now just 5 years after Solomon is gone a neighboring king defeats them and carried away the gold from the temple.  It doesn't say anything about the ark. Think about this, they are too weak to defend themselves and God has left them so a group of pagans can loot the temple.  What was Judah doing that God might leave them?  They practiced idolatry and pagan rituals, many included sexual orgies. Have you ever noticed that sex and sexual appetites are a key fixture in false religions?

Today's workout. chest-shoulders intervals.
