July 31, I Kings 15:9-24
Asa was a good king, note that he reigned 40 years which means that an entire generation knew no other king or way of life. Asa walked right before God and as a result of this had a long reign. There are two items I do wonder about, he never took down the high places, temples to false gods. And he made a treaty with Ben-Hadad in order to fight against Baasha. I wonder why he didn't go to God first. Maybe the same reasons that we don't go to God first. But that focuses on what he didn't do, let's look at what he did. He took the prostitutes out of the temple, destroyed the local idols and restored worship of The Lord.
That's a significant achievement.
