August 20, 1 Kings 21:1-16 Naboth's vinyard 2
Today we'll look at the second character in this story, Ahab. Ahab was a bad king, an evil and selfish man. We don't know enough of his history if he was always like this or if the office helped corrupt him. The adage that power corrupts. The king, or any government office for that matter, is to be a servant to the people. In most cases the people who seek these positions do so not to serve but to have power. I don't believe too many people ever told Ahab no. He was the king and acostumed to getting his own way. His behavior is quite childish to go and pout about it. Considering the current state of world governments, I see a lot of political leaders who behave the same way.
