It's a pretty basic metaphor and used in so many aspects of life. I wrote a blog about actually building on the rock right after hurricane Matthew. The attractive places, the islands that seem like vacation resorts with scenic beaches seem like a great place to live. History shows us that those places are also most susceptible to violent storms. Yet it's amazing that people will simply rebuild in the same places only to be destroyed again. It's like bad habits, they become a foundation of our lives, eventually weak foundations collapse. And just like the people who build on the islands and rebuild after storms, we tend to rebuild onthe same weak foundations.
