February 15, 1 Peter 1:1-9 Jesus The Christ, raised from the dead

Peter writes to persecuted Christians who have fled from Jerusalem, probably Jews who accepted Christ and suffered for this. In verse 3 Peter writes the one key element that separates Christianity from all worldly religions. Christ is raised from the dead and in this we may have hope. The life of Jesus is well documented through history, His death, burial and resurrection is also well documented. No-one else cam claim these things. The religions of the world rely on doing works in this life to find some future, they have no evidence to support any claims. But Jesus is the evidence to support His claim, "destroy this temple and in 3 days I will rebuild it".  I have no faith in this life, I will live and toil daily for a number of years and the things I do here will eventually fade away. But because Jesus lives, I have hope for eternity.  This should make every believer shout for joy.
