February 18, 1 Peter 2:2-8 We're all just rocks

Have you ever thought of yourself as just a rock?  Sometimes I've been called dumb as a rock but never thought of myself as one.  Think about what a rock does, nothing by itself but it can be useful for a lot of things. A tool for some, a weapon for David, part of a strong building, a step across the river. But to be used it must be placed where needed. The difference though between us and rocks is that we resist being placed, or we get up and walk away. When I lived in Europe I saw buildings made of rocks built by the Romans more than 2000 years ago, the rocks weren't all the same shape and size, master builders took what was available and skillfully put them together. Jesus is our master builder, we're all different sized rocks but put together by Him we'll stand for eternity.
