March 18, Isaiah 10, A warning, a judgment, and a promise
This chapter has three distinct items, I'm actually going to look at them in reverse order. It ends with the promise of Israel's rerun and that God will again fight for them. Obviously that hasn't happened yet. The middle deals with Assyria being a powerful and prideful nation, arrogant in their own power and not acknowledging God. This prophecy was fulfilled and Assyria was broken in the sixth year of Hezekiah. But my main thoughts are on the first section. I wrote a blog earlier about so many foolish laws, here again we deal with laws. Through history people in power have abused that power to write decrees which oppress others. So many people in government believe that the majority of the populace are too dumb to care for themselves and need them. We have a promise and warning here, God will remember and hold men accountable for their actions.
