These two chapters deal with a single prophecy. Moab was a nation that at times allied with Israel and at times wared with them. The origin of the nation came from relations between Lot and his oldest daughter. Reading the account of the destruction we are given the reasons. They went up to the 'high places' which signified idol worship. A once great powerful nation is reduced to poverty because of idolatry. Heads are shaved to stop the spread of lice since they lived in squaller, it's also a symbol of their disgrace. Wearing sack cloth instead of regular clothes, mourning or poverty. Read through both chapters, they are about people who place all of their hope in the things they have or what they have done. And what happens when that is gone?
