March 5, Isaiah 3:1-17 The most important person is me

I still remember a foolish commercial in the 70's when I was growing up, it had a catchy song that said, the most important person in the whole wide world is you. It's all about building up self esteem, the key word there is self. That's what happens to nearly any society as it decays, it becomes more individual and self centered than group. In verse 5 Isaiah speaks of neighbor oppressing neighbor. We loose the concept that as a group we are much more than the sum of our parts. And going back a verse God says that boys and infants shall rule, did we not see in the last several elections behavior like school children? This is a prophecy against Judah and Jerusalem but certainly the principles are universal, a society dedicated to individualism is destined to fail.
