This chapter is a prophecy for Israel's future when God will bring them all back and be their God and king. There are several places where God refers to them as Jacob and then Israel. The difference is significant, Jacob is a self centered swindler and Israel is the man who surrendered to God. There's a little of both in all of us, sometimes we behave like Jacob and others like Israel. Yet both are God's because He chose Israel. He chose me too, so no matter if I behave like Jacob or like Israel I am still His for eternity and I find salvation only in Him.
