April 29, Isaiah 46 Men carry idols, God carries men
God speaks about how the idols of men are carried as burdens on beasts or on their shoulders. They place them in special places and worship them but the idols never answer. I remember the story in 1 Samuel 5 when the pagans captured the ark and placed in the temple of their idol Dagon, each morning the statue was bowed down before the ark, and finally was broken. There's something in man that makes him want some object to focus worship on, which is why I don't believe we'll ever find Noah's ark, the ark of the covenant, or any other artifact, because men would worship that instead of God. The idols stay in one place, they don't move on their own but God is everywhere, always present no matter where His people go.
