In the beginning of this chapter Jesus was teaching in the synagogues, here at the end He's healing all manner of sickness at Peter's house. I don't profess to know why God does what He does. I suppose that it was important for the people to be healed, perhaps to encourage faith. I don't believe it was to proclaim His identity, He told the demons to be quiet. Certainly there was compassion but there was probably another reason. All things that God does are for His glory. Jesus still heals people today yet not everyone is healed. There is no formula to how and why, it's what suits His purpose. But contrast to that the gospel message can be and is preached daily to the salvation of souls. And which is more important, physical bodies being healed or souls saved?
