July 2 Luke 7 You can't help stubborn people
There are a lot of things happening in this chapter, something in the scriptures that bothers be a bit is the lack of time lines. Certainly this all didn't happen in the same day, was it days or weeks? Probably not all that important though. Jesus heals the sick and raises the dead all for His purpose. John the baptist knew Jesus and believed in Him, even to declare who and what He was. But now he has doubts. It's OK to doubt but also look at the evidence and make decisions based on that. The pharisees would not accept Jesus no matter what He did. The stubborn attitudes of people still exist today. In that day there were preconceived notions of what the messiah would or should do and unless someone fit right into that pattern he would not be accepted. Humanity hasn't changed, we still have notions of what people should or shouldn't do and even when they've done something good they're rejected.
