Through chapter two it speaks of how God made all of the trees and animals and brought them to Adam to name them. We know that He made all animals in pairs to reproduce but didn't make Eve until after. I have a theory, Adam's reaction seems a bit subdued to me, it's verse 23. Eve was the absolute perfect woman, beauty incarnate. And I suspect that Adam would have been the perfect man. So when he sees Eve for the first time the reaction was probably a bit more than what's on the page. I suspect that had God made Eve before the naming of the animals and plants then Adam might have been a bit distracted.
