Jesus' disciples were given authority over all things in order to reach people for Him, curious that none of their specific acts were recorded, perhaps to keep the focus on Jesus. These events certainly caused news to spread, the text says that even Herod was curious but not curious enough. And that crowds came to hear Jesus and be healed. The miracle of the feeding is a fairly common story, it shows God's compassion. But all of the events in this chapter can lead us to a question, who is Jesus? Herod found Him to be a curiosity, the crowd thought he was an old prophet or perhaps Elijah, but Jesus asks "Who do you say that I am?" That's the question, who do YOU say that Jesus is?
